Had a resin floor laid in our unit maybe two months ago and now there are patches lifting into bubbles that sound hollow when I tap them. It was fine at first. Trying to work out whether it's the installer's fault or the slab.
Bubbling and hollow-sounding patches almost always point to something coming up from underneath rather than a bad batch of resin. The usual suspects are moisture in the slab driving vapour up through the coating, poor preparation or contamination that stopped a proper bond, or air outgassing from a warm, porous substrate as the resin cured. Hollow areas that tap drummy are classic delamination, meaning the layer never keyed to what is below it. Soft spots point a different way, usually toward mixing or the material not fully curing. Getting under a failed patch and checking the slab for damp is the quickest way to tell moisture from a bond problem, and moisture mapping will confirm it.
