All roofing materials expand and contract with daily and seasonal temperature change. Where a system cannot absorb that movement, stress builds at seams, upstands and details until the roof fractures and lets water in. Elongation at break (EAB) measures how much a material can flex before it fractures. A lower EAB suits smaller, stable roofs and may call for extra detailing or expansion joints to cope with movement. A higher EAB absorbs far more deformation, which removes the need for expansion joints on most projects. eFlex sets each Allbase system against this scale.
