Toughened adhesive

A structural adhesive modified with a dispersed rubbery or thermoplastic phase that blunts cracks and absorbs fracture energy, improving peel and impact performance without a large sacrifice in strength or temperature resistance. Toughened epoxies and acrylics are standard for bonded joints subject to vibration, impact or peel loading.

Also known as: rubber-toughened adhesive
