The concrete in our warehouse extension is a few months old but the damp meter is still giving me high numbers. I'm under pressure to get the floor down this week. Is it a real problem or am I being overly cautious?
A high reading is the substrate telling you to wait, and going ahead over it is the most common cause of resin floors lifting later. Most resin systems need a dry, sound base and a relative humidity check before anything is laid, because trapped moisture will try to push its way out through the coating. If the slab has no working damp-proof membrane, or the readings stay high, a moisture-tolerant primer or a surface damp-proof membrane is usually the safer route before the main system goes down. The honest answer depends on your slab, so getting proper readings first is worth the delay. Moisture mapping or materials testing will tell you where you actually stand before you commit resin to it.
