Prepregs

Why let prepreg warm up before opening the bag?

Asked by Priya K. · November 2025

The instructions say to leave the prepreg to reach room temperature before opening the packaging. Is this really necessary?

Yes, it matters. If you open the packaging while the prepreg is still cold, moisture in the surrounding air can condense straight onto the material. That moisture can then become trapped inside the laminate during curing, which raises the risk of voids and lowers quality. Letting the sealed package warm up first means any condensation forms on the outside of the packaging rather than on the prepreg.
