Readings go out typically once an hour, so the first one may take a little while to appear after installation. If nothing appears in the monitoring portal, work through these checks in order.
1. Solar panel
The gateway charges from daylight, not only direct sun, but it needs light. Check that the panel faces the light and is not sitting in the shade of a roof overhang, a tree or a neighbouring building, and that nothing covers, sticks to or dirties it. Loosen the thumbscrew on the joint, turn the gateway and tighten it again if the alignment is wrong.
2. Clamp bracket
Check that the clamp bracket is fully seated on the front edge of the gutter with both thumbscrews tightened evenly by hand, and that the gateway hangs freely on the outside of the gutter without touching the facade, a window or the roof.
3. Cable and probe
Check the cable routing: a loose loop over the front edge, no tension, no sharp kinks and not pulled over sharp sheet-metal edges. The probe should lie on the gutter bottom where water collects, without obstructing the water flow. The black rainfall reference on the bracket needs to be exposed and uncovered.
4. Mobile reception
Readings travel over NB-IoT or LTE Cat-M on the included international SIM. A normal phone signal at the gutter is a good first indication of coverage, and doubtful sites can be checked with a demo device.
Still nothing
Contact Allbase with the device ID from the label on the gateway and the unit can be diagnosed remotely.
