I've bagged up a hull section ready to infuse tomorrow and the gauge won't sit still, it drops off after ten minutes or so. I've been over the tacky tape twice and can't hear anything. This is the first infusion of this size for me.
A slow drop like that is almost always a small leak rather than one big hole. A common check is to pull full vacuum, close off the resin and vacuum lines, then watch the gauge over several minutes, which tells you whether you are chasing a leak or just outgassing. Work the perimeter tape first, pressing it down firmly, then check every port, fitting and pleat, since folds at corners are a classic culprit. An ultrasonic detector earns its keep here, but a length of hose held to your ear will find most hisses. Get the drop rate to a level you are happy with before you wet out, because a bag that leaks under dry vacuum only gets worse once resin is moving.
